Traveling with your pet takes some planning in advance. Besides reserving tickets and/or a hotel room, this more to consider to insure a pleasant trip for everyone. 

•  Ask your Veterinarian for a recommendation of an animal hospital in the area where you will be traveling so you will be prepared if your pet needs medical attention.


• If your Veterinarian can not provide a specific recommendation for you, consult the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) website. This site will list all hospitals that have passed the stringent AAHA accreditation process.


• If you are considering travel insurance, check whether the policy will cover your pet and any cancellation that could occur in the event your pet becomes sick.
• Take a picture of your pet to bring with you in the unfortunate event, he gets loose.
• Trim your pet's nails. If you have to remove your pet from her carrier at a security check-point, she will be nervous and will certainly hold on tightly to you.
• Consult airlines for any requirements such as health certificates.
• See your Veterinarian to be sure all required vaccinations are up-to-date and to get the health certificate, if necessary.
